9/2/2023 0 Comments Aldiko calibre serverIt's not a big annoyance, and I wouldn't have even noticed it if I wasn't trying to figure out the page limit thing, but it's there. ALL such groups in my library are affected. But, coincidentally, it appears to affect only author groups with more than 30 names. The actual XML block for the "B" group is as follows:Īs I said, this does not seem to be directly related to the OPDS paging, since it was unaffected by raising the max_opds_items value. But the "By Authors" OPDS page says that there are only 31 items under "B", which is plainly wrong. If I load the "B" author listing in OPDS, I get 36 names (hand-counted), as expected. I have 36 authors with surnames beginning in "B". But hand-copying the URL from Firefox yields the same results, so it doesn't seem to be a browser issue)Īnyway. (Firefox is the one browser that displays the OPDS server in a convenient way - IE has no clickable links, Chrome shows raw XML and Edge refuses to load the page. I'm checking via Firefox pointed to 127.0.0. And the issue appears to be unrelated to the paging thing, because I raised the max_opds_items value so they can all fit in a single page. Letter S: 46 authors, 45 reported, 30 actually listed Letter M: 36 authors, 34 reported, 30 actually listed Letter C: 36 authors, 35 reported, 30 actually listed Similarly, other letters with large numbers of authors had problems: but the webpage reports only 31, and when the link is opened it only actually displays 30, as mentioned above. In the regular Calibre UI, the library reports 36 authors under the "B" letter. Furthermore, I noticed that the "calibre Library :: By Authors" page had wrong information: Sure enough, the bug also showed under browser access. As I was downloading some books to my phone (I use Aldiko to connect to the OPDS server), I couldn't find some authors when using the "by authors" listing.įurther investigation revealed that when there are more than 30 authors under the same letter (for instance, I have 36 authors with the initial "B"), only the first 30 are listed.Īt first I was unsure if this was a Calibre or Aldiko bug, so I double-checked by opening my web browser on 127.0.0.1:8080/opds on the PC. Our plan is to build support for streaming comics through the Divina profile of the Readium Web Publication specification, which provides a lot more features than OPDS-PS but it should be possible to provide a bridge to OPDS-PS down the road as well.I have a large library. OPDS-PS falls into the same category as it's not really part of the OPDS specification. We'll look into both Kavita and Calibre but based on past experience, neither of them tend to stick closely to the OPDS specification, which might explain specific issues. Our next release targets specifically PDF, with new options to switch between scrolling/pagination, control the reading direction and use a dual page mode in landscape. Lastly, OPDS-PS would be the icing on the cake, allowing for book streaming/syncing to an OPDS server would allow users to read a book on any device and keep progress synced without having to download anything It would also be nice to have more format compatibility in regards to comics as well as manga (which doesn't seem to be supported at all). PDF's for example have basically no options (would be nice to have option to display two pages at once). Moreover, I would love to see more customization options as well as features. Searching through some OPDS catalogs (using both Kavita and Calibre) will often crash when downloading and not display the entire catalog. The app overall works really well as it stands, but it is obvious it still needs some work before I works consider it a daily-driver.
